B’nei Ayish Dual Language School
In 2021, TALMA pioneered a project introducing a dual-language classroom at the Efrati school in Bnei Ayish, a peripheral community initially established as a transit camp for Yemeni immigrants. This innovative approach involves first through third-grade classes learning in Hebrew during morning hours, followed by four immersive hours of English instruction in the afternoons, four days a week, led by a Native English-speaking teacher. The curriculum emphasizes spoken English, integrating pre-reading skills, phonics, and age-appropriate science and math experiences.
The dynamic class incorporates engaging activities such as games, songs, and arts & crafts, creating an exciting learning environment. Collaborating closely with the school staff, our teachers have fostered a supportive and challenging atmosphere. The pilot program received a warm welcome from the school staff, establishing the groundwork for its success.

Students
Years (and Running!)
1–2 Grades Ahead in English
Building on three highly successful years, the program has entered its fourth year at Efrati, continuing the project in first, second, and third grades. Collaboration with the regular English teacher enhances the learning experience, employing innovative methods to help students acquire the language effectively. This pioneering initiative seeks to bring about a fundamental transformation in the local education system, aiming for lasting positive change in the community.
